Alexandra Kasper
“The plot of land on which my beautiful house now stands has belonged to my family for several generations.
Old documents reveal that the street used to have a different name.
The former “Schlesingerstraße” was renamed “An der Hölle” in 1944, during World War II. My grandparents told me that the name, which referred to Judaism (Silesia), apparently no longer suited the Führer, Adolf Hitler. How the new name came about remains a mystery to everyone. If you look it up online, you’ll read that it might refer to a cave, though no one here can recall any cave.
Even though the origin of the name seems rather grim, we’re glad that our guests remember it so well—it does sound quite devilish. But don’t worry, you’ll find it heavenly here; I’m sure of that.”
Vienna – the capital of fine living
Nowhere is “the art of enjoyment” mastered as well as in Vienna. The former imperial capital of the Habsburgs offers enjoyment in all its forms: art and music, classical and modern, nature and relaxation, Viennese cuisine and coffeehouses, design and architecture, old and new. Here, no wish goes unfulfilled!
