The former “Schlesingerstraße” was renamed “An der Hölle” in 1944, during World War II. My grandparents told me that the name, which referred to Judaism (Silesia), apparently no longer suited the Führer, Adolf Hitler. How the new name came about remains a mystery to everyone.
